How IncMD Condition Ratings Work: New, Used, and What We Actually Check
The biggest problem in the used equipment market isn’t used equipment — it’s vague listings. “Great condition!” tells you nothing. So every item at IncMD carries an explicit condition rating, and this post explains exactly what those ratings mean.
The ratings
- New. Unused, in original packaging where applicable, with full manufacturer documentation. About a quarter of our current catalog is new inventory.
- Used – Excellent. Fully functional, minimal cosmetic wear, recent service history where available.
- Used – Good. Fully functional with normal cosmetic wear for its service life. The workhorse rating — most of our capital equipment lands here.
- Used – Fair. Fully functional with visible wear: scuffs, worn labels, cosmetic blemishes. Priced accordingly. Function is never “fair” — if it doesn’t pass function testing, we don’t sell it.
What we check before listing
- Function test of primary operating modes — a monitor reads, a table travels its full range, a defibrillator passes self-test and delivers energy to spec
- Recall screen against the FDA database for the exact model
- Completeness — cables, accessories, and consumable status disclosed in the listing
- Data sanitization on any device that could store patient information
- Serial capture for federally tracked devices like defibrillators
What the photos mean
The photos on our listings are of the actual unit or lot you’re buying, taken in our warehouse — not manufacturer stock images. What you see is what ships.
Our simple promise
If an item arrives materially different from its listing, we make it right. Transparent condition ratings only mean something if there’s accountability behind them — that’s the whole point.
